Expert Barber & Beauty School provides hands-on training, expert instruction, and real salon experience to prepare students for successful careers in barbering and cosmetology in Carrollton and McKinney, Texas.
Our Model
Training built on real clients, not just mannequins.
We built our academy around a simple idea: the fastest way to build a confident, licensed professional is to put them in front of real clients, early and often, with an instructor standing right beside them.
Early weeks of every program cover sanitation, disinfection, safety, state laws and rules, tool handling, and foundational technique on mannequins. As students demonstrate competency, they move into our working clinic to build the speed, judgment, and client-consultation skills that a classroom alone can't teach.
Mistakes made on a mannequin cost nothing. Mistakes made on a real client, under direct instructor supervision, become teaching moments, and that is exactly the gap our programs are built to close before graduation.

Russell Black serves as the Director of Education at Expert Barber Beauty Academy, bringing more than 12 years of professional experience in the barbering and beauty industry.
Together with his family, Russell owns and operates two barber and beauty schools. As Director of Education, he oversees educational programs, supports instructors, and works directly with students throughout their training. He believes strongly in hands-on learning in a positive, supportive, and stress-free environment.

Instructor Supervision
Correction happens in the moment, not after the fact.
Hands-on training with real clients under instructor supervision is the core of how every program here is taught. Instructors work alongside students during actual client services, catching a mistake before it becomes a habit, correcting hand position mid-service, and showing students how to adjust technique for a client's specific hair type, skin, or face shape in real time.
That structure is what prepares graduates for state licensing exams and for the pace of a real working salon or barbershop from their very first shift.
